Despite the problems that the prolonged pandemic brought to smartphone manufacturers, some of them managed to pass the year with success. We can say that Realme is on the list of brands that had a very positive year. The brand expanded its flagship portfolio, debuted a bunch of 5G phones, and ended 2020 as the most flexible smartphone brand. Now it is preparing to launch the new Snapdragon 888 flagship.
The device has been heavily leaked under the codename Realme Race, and this month the brand revealed that it will go official as the Realme GT 5G. The device will go official on March 4th, and according to new leaks, it will be priced below the price norm of CNY 2999 ($465 USD / €380).
This estimated price would likely make the Realme GT 5G the cheapest Snapdragon 888 smartphone on the market. In fact, it costs less than some premium mid-range phones like the OnePlus Nord. It looks "too good to be true", but the source is indeed trustworthy. In addition to the estimated price, the phone will feature a 120Hz AMOLED panel made by Samsung with a fingerprint reader for biometric authentication.
The prices and specifications of the Realme GT 5G display were revealed by the vice president of Realme
The latest revelations came from Realme Armenia Chairman Mr.Xu Qi Chase who wrote on Weibo saying that pricing the Realme GT 5G at RMB 2999 was a difficult feat. He also assured that Realme GT 5G will have LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1. However, he did not specify specific figures. However, we do know that the GT 5G will come with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of built-in storage. Maybe it will be the high-end variant, we believe there is another version and it will be priced at RMB 2999, maybe the variant with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage.
Unfortunately, most of the specifications of the Realme GT 5G remain a mystery. However, we already have a set of leaked posters and teasers that provide some minor details about the handset. We know there is a variant with a glass back and another with a bumblebee leather finish. The latter will probably be called the Yellow Race. The phone will have a 64-megapixel system with three cameras. Thanks to TENAA and 3C certification, we know the phone will pack a 4880mAh battery with 65W fast charging.
As mentioned above, the flagship will become official on March 4. We expect more details to emerge in the coming days.
