I still decided to write reviews of movies and series here, because we all like to watch them and watch them. I usually start during dinner and watch several series at the same time, that is, one series of each in the evening. And why I prefer to watch TV series - I will gladly explain.
Finding a decent movie is often a chore, and sometimes thankless. Sometimes you spend a lot of time searching, and then you start watching, and it turns out that it's real ... well, in short, you don't really want to watch it. But when you find a good series, you watch it for a long time, watch it and enjoy it. Especially when there are 5 seasons, and preferably 20, and each series has 25. But not every time and not everyone is so lucky.
So, if we talk about the series "Significant Other" (2023), then it cannot boast of the number of seasons, because it has just been released, and besides, it is already marked with the "Completed" mark, nor the number of episodes - there are only 6 of them. But what did he attract my attention and make me watch with interest until the very end? (Taking into account the series for the evening, it took me almost a week).
Well, first of all, this is an English series. To be honest, for several years I firmly held the opinion that TV series are divided into English and all other series. No, of course, I found out later that there are also Australian series that are very, very worthy of attention (along with New Zealand ones), and Swedish-Danish, and Norwegian, and French ones too, where would you go without them. But more about them all later.
Secondly, the actors. The performer of the male lead role is completely unfamiliar to me, and I was not impressed at all, however, as well as his character. Who, without having time to say something good or do something good, immediately crossed out everything with some kind of nonsense said or done, and absolutely, wildly senseless and unprincipled. But the performer of the female role, Katherine Parkinson, really impressed me even in "Doctor Martin", and although almost 20 years have passed since she was filmed there, she has not lost either her charm or her acting skills, because you believe her, and you admire her, and somewhere you even fall in love.
So, since the TV series is English, it has a kind of elusive charm inherent in all English TV series. It cannot be described in words, it must be seen and felt, and preferably both at the same time.
Regarding the plot, there is no point in retelling it. But it was very gratifying that every time it started to seem that the plot had slipped deep down and firmly stood on the crowded pop rails - immediately some magic trick happened, and the value of the series in my eyes rapidly rose to sky-high heights unattainable for most series.
But I completely forgot to mention the genre. It is a comedy and a melodrama at the same time.
