Last year, Samsung introduced a unique product called the Galaxy Ring, designed to track fitness, health and sleep. It looks like Apple is working on a similar product to compete with the Galaxy Ring. A new patent for Apple's "smart" ring has been published online, demonstrating its universal use. Interestingly, the patent even demonstrates how the Apple Smart Ring is used to play the famous game Rock, Paper, Scissors.
The discovery of a new patent was made by the company Ithome. This patent focuses on gestures, specifically skin-to-skin contact detection and how the Apple Smart Ring can determine the relationship between different parts of the body to enable different gestures. This technology allows the ring to interpret gestures such as pinch, slide and even rock, paper, scissors.

Apple is known for its seamless ecosystem, and it's likely that the company is exploring ways to integrate the Smart Ring into that ecosystem. The smart ring could potentially improve on other Apple products, such as the Vision Pro, by offering gesture control.
Although this patent is currently only an idea, it represents an exciting opportunity for the future. Maybe Apple is really considering developing a “smart” ring to compete with the Samsung Galaxy Ring.
