Huawei hosted the Huawei Talent Summit at this year's Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona, where it unveiled a number of initiatives, including the Young Leaders Development Program, the Huawei-UNESCO Lifelong Learning (UIL) Joint Project, and the Huawei Cloud Startup Program, and announced future sponsorship of the European Informatics Olympiad for Girls. With the support of Huawei Ukraine, a Ukrainian student, who last year presented an inclusive project within the framework of the "Seeds for the Future" program, spoke to an international audience at the event. Thus, the company does everything possible to support and develop talented young people in the field of ICT not only around the world, but also in Ukraine.
The summit was attended by leading international organizations, including the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and UNESCO, representatives of the governments of Greece, Kenya, Mexico, women industry leaders, entrepreneurs and participants in the Huawei Cloud Startup and "Seeds for the Future" programs. This year's theme united their speeches - "Education of excellence in the digital world".
Ukraine was presented at the Huawei summit by Kateryna Davydenko, a student of DUICT. Last year, her team presented an inclusive startup as part of Huawei's "Seeds for the Future" program — a robot assistant for children with disabilities. The invention helps to monitor the intake of necessary pills and liquids during the day and supports functions to simplify the life of parents or guardians of children with disabilities. As the student recalls, earlier she could not imagine that her inclusive dream project could be implemented so quickly and with the help of the country's leading specialists. She applied for participation in the "Seeds for the Future" program, and within half a year this decision brought a spectacular harvest. After all, today, after the implementation of her own startup with the support of "Huawei Ukraine", even more opportunities for professional development opened up for the girl.
"The "Seeds for the Future" program and "Huawei Ukraine" changed my life, and the trip to Barcelona to participate in the event MWC24 was an unforgettable experience. Here I met talented and passionate young people from all over the world, got to know their ambitious ideas: from discussions about artificial intelligence to solutions in the field of renewable energy sources. The experience gained strengthened my belief in the ability of technology to drive progress and solve pressing challenges facing the global community. Also, participation in the summit and meeting with like-minded people strengthened my optimism about the future and motivation to stick to the chosen path. Thanks to everyone who supported me!", - says Kateryna Davydenko.
During the summit, the Huawei ICT Academy digital badge was presented, which teachers and students participating in ICT academies around the world can use on their social networks, including LinkedIn. This will help them improve their personal brand and demonstrate their achievements to potential employers. Currently, Huawei cooperates with 2 colleges and universities in more than 700 countries around the world as part of the ICT Academy program, where more than 100 people study each year.
"All cooperation programs of Huawei Ukraine with domestic institutions of higher education are aimed at helping the educational industry in the final stage of training specialists for the telecom market - through practical skills acquired on modern equipment and supported by relevant certificates, to build a bridge for future graduates from a diploma to first workplace We are proud of Kateryna and other students who, after our programs, got new opportunities, saw new perspectives and are making plans to realize their professional dreams. - comments Volodymyr Bilavka, Deputy Director of Human Resources at Huawei Ukraine.
Talent Summit is not the only example of the participation of Ukrainian students in Huawei's international initiatives. In general, the company's educational programs are currently implemented in more than 150 countries, including Ukraine, and have helped more than 2,83 million people. Thus, in January 2024, "Huawei Ukraine" sent Tamara Berestyan, a graduate of DUIKT and winner of the "Seeds for the Future" competition, to the European Seeds for the Future event in China. During the week, together with students from 18 countries, she participated in trainings and workshops, where she received new knowledge and improved skills in the field of ICT for their further application in practice. And in 2022, a student from Ukraine entered the "School of Women's Leadership in the Age of Digital Technologies" for the first time, ahead of 2 female students and professionals from all over Europe in the competition.
