Chinese manufacturing giant Huawei is currently finalizing its latest flagship mobile phone in the Huawei P60 series. This series will have at least two models, the Huawei P60 and the Huawei P60 Pro. As the launch date of this series approaches, more details about the devices are emerging online. According to Weibo tech blogger Wangzai Beston, a new Huawei phone with the model suffix AL00 has appeared in the code base of the device. Surprisingly, the device runs the new HarmonyOS 3.1 operating system.
According to the available reports, this new mobile phone is likely to be the Huawei P60 series. This flagship series is expected to debut at the MWC 2023 event, which is scheduled to take place at the end of February. Huawei has since announced its commitment to this year's event, and there are hints that the company will unveil its latest flagship at the event.
There is no exact statement about changes in the HarmonyOS 3.1 system itself. However, judging by the suffix, the new system should focus on fixing bugs, improving stability, fluidity and compatibility. In addition, the new system will also bring some new features to the Huawei P60 series, especially features that have links to Huawei Xmage.
In fact, at the HDC 2022 conference last year, HarmonyOS 3.1 debuted in the form of a development version, introducing new aesthetic styles and interactive capabilities for mobile terminals. However, Huawei has not announced the final user interface of the mobile phone.
The US tightens the ban on Huawei
The US really wants Huawei to fail. In fact, it hurts the US government every time Huawei comes back. Back in 2019, the US initiated a ban on Huawei, which prohibits the company from doing business with American firms. The ban came at a time when Huawei was set to become the world's largest mobile phone brand. The US claims that Huawei poses a threat to its national security, a claim that still remains unsubstantiated. After the first ban, the US revised and strengthened the ban on Huawei at least twice more.
A few weeks ago there were reports that Huawei is now "free" from the ban and intends to return to the mobile phone market. The reports are likely to have angered the US government, which is once again tightening the ban. The scope of the ban on Huawei allows the company to use 4G chips with American technology, but not 5G. Now the US says that Huawei cannot use 4G chips with US technology. All the details of the new ban remain sketchy at this time.
