B&H Photo is promoting the M2 Mac mini and Mac mini Tower ahead of WWDC

B&H Photo, an Apple-approved reseller, sparked some speculation this morning about what new hardware we might see during Apple's WWDC keynote on Monday, in addition to iOS 16, macOS 13 and other software updates. The retailer has created placeholder pages for the unreleased M2 Mac mini (the M1 Mac mini was introduced in October 2020) and a purportedly brand new "Mac small tower" product that could be a reference to Apple's upcoming Silicon Mac Pro.

Of course, it is possible that this is all a giant fake. The list of websites approved by Apple is often inaccurate. In general, Apple hides information about its announcements from third-party partners until the event is over. Retailers used to create placeholder websites for various Apple products that never materialized.

However, many people believe that Apple will announce the M2 processor on Monday, starting the next phase of Apple Silicon.

The M2 Mac mini will launch at WWDC 2022 alongside the Mac mini Tower

According to 9to5mac, this will surely be found in the next-generation MacBook Air, which will also have an updated body and new colors. On the other hand, a Mac mini with updated specs isn't a big leap. Compared to the M1, the M2 processor includes more GPU cores and uses the CPU and GPU core architectures found in the iPhone 15's A13 chip, resulting in a 10% increase in performance and significantly improved battery efficiency.

According to the product listing, the M1 Pro microprocessor is used in the Mac mini Tower. Most likely, this is another sign that the data has been faked or simply misleading. There have been reports that Apple is working on updating the Mac mini with the M1 Pro processor, but who knows.

The most anticipated event of Monday is the presentation of the new Mac Pro. At least a quick look at the new car and some specs. Indeed, Apple hinted at the existence of a new Mac Pro at the end of its March presentation, saying: "There's one product left: the Mac Pro, but that's for another day." Apple's Silicon Mac Pro won't be available until the end of the year.

The World Wide Web Developers Conference (WWDC) starts Monday at 10am Pacific. Apple will announce major improvements to all of its software platforms, including iOS 16, macOS 13, iPadOS 16, watchOS 9, and tvOS 16, as well as new Mac hardware.

Apple's first in-person event after COVID - WWDC 2022 with journalists and press invited to view at the Apple Park campus.
