MacBook Air 2022: What to expect? Is it worth the wait?

A mix of leaks and rumors have circulated over the past 12 months, suggesting that Apple is indeed working on a successor to its entry-level MacBook. That's why we've gathered the most important data on offer for the new 2022 MacBook Air.

There are rumors that the MacBook Air 2022 will have a new design. While the MacBook Air M1 was a brand new and interesting chipset, its design was dated and matched the look of the 2016 MacBook Air.

As such, the rumors are touting a new design that could retain the thin wedge shape of the current Air, but evolve it with more rounded edges, thinner screen bezels, and possibly even a display notch like the current 2021 MacBook Pro models. Although the latter claim has been denied by other sources.

MacBook Air M2: What to expect? Should we wait?

An improved keyboard and a set of Thunderbolt 4 ports will also be available. We'd like to see an SD card reader, but it may remain exclusive to MacBook Pro laptops.

The second biggest part of the MacBook Air 2021 update is expected to be Apple's M2 chip. Instead of following in the footsteps of the Apple M1 Pro and M1 Max, the M2 will prioritize efficiency over raw power.

It is likely to be built using a 4nm manufacturing process rather than the 5nm used by its predecessor. Therefore, we can expect more performance and more efficiency from the M2 thanks to the increase in transistors on the silicon wafer.

The leaked data shows that the M2 offers 12 CPU cores, four more than the eight-core M1. The GPU is said to be able to go from seven and eight cores to 16 cores. It's unclear how true this information is, as the numbers put the M2's specs on par with the M1 Pro and M1 Max, although performance isn't entirely dependent on the number of cores alone.

Either way, expect the M2 chip to be a noticeable upgrade over the original M1, even if it means the MacBook Air 2022 will have more battery life than its predecessor.

Rumors about the MacBook Air are not as strong as other products at the moment. This makes some sense. WWDC in June will undoubtedly update MacOS, with a developer beta soon after and a public release in September-October. During that time, we expect to see the next-generation MacBook Air.

I have always been interested in IT technologies. And since my previous many years of professional activity (which is design and pre-press preparation) is not possible without their help, it so happened that everything that was related to computers (for example, collecting and modernizing "hardware", as well as configuring software ) I always had to do it myself.

Well, with the advent of gadgets in our lives, the scope of my interests expanded to include them as well.

I like to study and analyze the capabilities of various devices, and for many years, before buying anything new, I always study the capabilities of each potential model for a long time and carefully, spend quite a long and painstaking work, read reviews, reviews and comparisons.

The reward for my time is usually that most of the time I really do get the best of what I can get within my budget.
