Telegram now has reactions, hidden text, translation and QR codes

A few hours before the end of the year, the Telegram messenger announced its 12th and final update for the past year. It includes reactions, the ability to add hidden text, automatic translation of messages, as well as QR codes.

A reaction is a quick response to a message in the form of an interactive or animated emoticon. In private chats, they are always enabled, and for groups and channels, the ability to use them is configured by administrators: you can not only allow the reactions themselves, but also specify which emojis will be responsible for this function. You can limit yourself to traditional likes or organize a vote.

You can change the default reaction to a different emoticon in Settings.

Android: Chat settings > Quick response.
iOS: Stickers and Emojis > Quick Response.
Admins can control reactions via the group or channel Info Page > Edit > Reactions. For additional feedback options, try channel comments and our powerful polls.

If necessary, users of the messenger got the opportunity to work with hidden text, for example, when discussing movies or series, but without revealing the details of the script. Setting hidden text is done using standard formatting tools β€” such text is not displayed either in message texts or in messages about them. To view the hidden text, tap it.

An important innovation is the message translation function. To start this feature, you must first activate it in the "Language" item in the "Settings" menu. Then, to translate the message, you just need to tap it (or pinch it with your finger in iOS). In the settings, you can specify languages for which translation is not required. The function is available for any version of Android and iOS 15+.

For any user who has set up a public link on their profile, you can now generate a QR code right in the app - the feature is also available for groups, channels and bots. Next to the public link, a QR code icon appeared, by clicking on which you can generate not only the code itself, but also its design: the required colors and patterns. Users can save the result, print it or share it in any other application.

In addition, the Telegram client for macOS has new options in the context menu β€” improved navigation and animated icons for each item. Finally, some emoticons have interactive versions.

I have always been interested in IT technologies. And since my previous many years of professional activity (which is design and pre-press preparation) is not possible without their help, it so happened that everything that was related to computers (for example, collecting and modernizing "hardware", as well as configuring software ) I always had to do it myself.

Well, with the advent of gadgets in our lives, the scope of my interests expanded to include them as well.

I like to study and analyze the capabilities of various devices, and for many years, before buying anything new, I always study the capabilities of each potential model for a long time and carefully, spend quite a long and painstaking work, read reviews, reviews and comparisons.

The reward for my time is usually that most of the time I really do get the best of what I can get within my budget.
