The Lumia Updates portal has found very interesting news about the Whatsapp application in both Windows and macOS versions. The program is in the stage of beta testing, but already you can download it from the Microsoft Store, to get instant access to all the new features.
The new Universal Windows App (UWP) Whatsapp has been completely rewritten from the ground up, and in the Windows 11 version, it also includes updated Acrylic graphics effects. The app will be very fast with a launch time of only 1 second, it will also include new features such as a drawing feature that allows you to draw on a dedicated panel and send the result as an image, messages even when the app is closed, and a new settings menu. According to Lumia Updates, the stickers are missing, but they will be added to later beta versions and will be present in the final version of the app.
The brand new WhatsApp for Windows is now available for download
As originally predicted, the new application will also be available for macOS, and there is no shortage of innovations here either. It will be based on Mac Catalyst, which allows application code to be shared between Mac and iPad. This means that the upcoming version of Whatsapp for macOS should also work on iPad. The two versions of the app will be very similar, except that the iPad needs some optimization to make it easier to use with the touch screen.
However, if a beta version of a new program is used in relation to Windows, which is already available in the store, then the situation does not seem so rosy for Apple users - there is no information about the appearance of this new version of Whatsapp on Mac, and most likely, until the macOS version is available, not even the iPad version, which many Apple users have been waiting for.
WhatsApp is allegedly working on a "Communities" feature
In October, members of the XDA Developers community first reported that WhatsApp might be working on a feature called Communities. Later, this information was confirmed by the publication WABetaInfo - it is about expanding the capabilities of group chats.
Community admins will have more authority than admins in standard group chats. Communities will be able to create their own groups — similar to the structure of channels on Discord servers.
In addition, community administrators will be able to invite new users using special links (community invite links). Judging by the screenshots, such a link can be immediately sent to the addressee or converted into a QR code. We don't know if a user who accepts an invitation from this link can post to all chats in the community at once.
