The Windows 11 operating system has been available to users for just over a month. The updated interface, support for Android apps and multitasking have attracted a lot of users during this time, but still many are afraid to switch to the new OS now. The results of a survey of more than 8000 respondents have been published on the Android Authority website.
The site administration asked which of the visitors switched to the new operating system. According to the results of a survey conducted on November 5 and published recently, it was found that about 36,4% of PC users switched to Windows 11, abandoning Windows 10 and other versions of the OS.
Other users were about equally divided. About 13% of users have not upgraded, but plan to do so. More than 17% do not have the necessary system requirements, so the computer does not allow them to update, approximately the same number weigh all the pros and cons, and about 16% are not going to update their OS at all. As a result, about 63% of portal visitors who agreed to take part in the survey have not yet updated.
In the comments, some indicated that they are afraid of compatibility problems, others are satisfied with the Windows 10 operating system they are already familiar with, and others fear that the new operating system is still insecure. Some even claim that they have already tried Windows 11 and rolled back to its predecessor, and some even to one of the versions of Linux. Many agree that it's worth the wait without interrupting your workflow to become a free Microsoft beta tester.
Microsoft is expanding the Android app testing program in Windows 11
Last week, Microsoft expanded the Windows Subsystem for Android (WSA) testing program that comes with Windows 11 and lets you run Android apps on your PC. While this feature was previously available to members of the Windows Early Evaluation Program in the Beta channel, it is now available to Insiders in the Dev channel.
Since WSA is currently in the early stages of testing, there are only 50 Android apps available for users to download to their computers from the Amazon app store. At least for now, Amazon is the main source of mobile applications for Windows 11 computers. But it is possible that in the future there will be support for other platforms involved in the distribution of digital content for Android-based devices.
We also expect more apps to be available for users to test in the coming months. Please note that with sufficient qualifications, users can install Android applications by extracting APK files.
We remind you that the WSA subsystem in Windows 11 does not support the launch of Android applications that require Google Mobile Services. Despite this, the enthusiast managed to install the Play Store on a Windows 11 computer, which made virtually any Android application available. It is possible that Play Store support will be implemented officially in the future.
