Raspberry Pi Zero 2 W with 512 MB LPDDR2 SDRAM launched for $15

The long-awaited successor to the Raspberry Pi Zero, dubbed the Raspberry Pi Zero 2W Microcontroller, has become official. The newly introduced microcontroller is equipped with a Broadcom BCM2710A1 SoC, just like the entry-level version of the Raspberry Pi 3. The Zero W wireless board CPU with a clock frequency of 1 GHz is capable of providing up to five times the speed compared to the previous one.

Additionally, it comes with 512MB of LPDDR2 RAM. The new-fangled board works with both IoT (Internet of Things) projects and smart home applications. We will remind you that the original Raspberry Pi Zero debuted back in 2015. The starting price of the Raspberry Pi was increased for the first time earlier this year.

However, the recently released successor to the Pi Zero, on the other hand, won't blow your budget by any means. The Raspberry Pi Zero is a more compact version of the standard Pi that retailed for $5 in 2015. In 2017, its capabilities were updated and now include Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. This updated version was released as the Pi Zero W at a price of $10. Unfortunately, it was of little avail. But that all changed with the new Raspberry Pi Zero 2 W.

Specifications Raspberry Pi Zero 2W

Pi Zero 2 W retains the physical size and shape of the original Raspberry Pi Zero. However, it contains three additional cores. In addition, the board is equipped with a quad-core 64-bit Arm Cortex-A53 processor with a clock frequency of 1 GHz. The biggest feature of the board is the Raspberry Pi RP3A0 SIP (system in a package). Additionally, the Raspberry Pi Zero 2 W comes with 512 MB of LPDDR2 SDRAM. Also, it comes with Broadcom BCM2710A1 SoC.

In terms of connectivity, the board has USB 2.0, a pair of Micro-USB ports for power and a single Mini-HDMI port. In addition, it supports Bluetooth v4.2 and wireless LAN IEEE 802.11 b/g/n at 2,4 GHz. It also includes H.264 (1080p30) encoding, MPEG-4 (1080p30) decoding, and OpenGL ES 1.1, 2.0, and H.264 graphics for great video viewing. In addition, the Raspberry Pi Zero 2 W has reset pin breakout points, composite video, and a CSI-2 camera connector.

The device has dimensions of 65x30 mm. Raspberry Pi also introduced a new official USB power supply with a USB micro-B connector. The Raspberry Pi Zero 2 power supply will come in handy for powering the Raspberry Pi 3B+ or 3B. Its retail price is about 8 dollars. In India, it comes with a Type-D port. The Raspberry Pi 4 was announced back in 2019 at a price of $35 for the 1GB model. The 2GB version was available for $45, while the 4GB variant was available for $55.

Price and availability

On October 28, Raspberry Pi announced that the Zero 2 W went on sale for $15. You can purchase the Zero W wireless card from several retailers mentioned in the company's official announcement on the official website.

I have always been interested in IT technologies. And since my previous many years of professional activity (which is design and pre-press preparation) is not possible without their help, it so happened that everything that was related to computers (for example, collecting and modernizing "hardware", as well as configuring software ) I always had to do it myself.

Well, with the advent of gadgets in our lives, the scope of my interests expanded to include them as well.

I like to study and analyze the capabilities of various devices, and for many years, before buying anything new, I always study the capabilities of each potential model for a long time and carefully, spend quite a long and painstaking work, read reviews, reviews and comparisons.

The reward for my time is usually that most of the time I really do get the best of what I can get within my budget.
