OPPO presents the global version of ColorOS 12

Based on Android 12, the new ColorOS offers a clear, inclusive interface with better performance and even smoother operation.

ORRO presents a new version of the operating system around the world. To provide users with a seamless experience, ColorOS 12 offers a brand new inclusive interface, smoother operation, and a host of features that help improve productivity in everyday life and achieve work-life balance.

OPPO is officially launching the public beta version of ColorOS 12, becoming one of the first OEMs to offer smartphones based on Android 12. Next in line for the update is the OPPO Find X3 Pro smartphone, which will be available in Indonesia, Thailand and Malaysia. And in the coming months, OPPO will introduce the new version for some other models and in more regions and countries.

Inclusivity in focus

The ORRO brand is represented in 68 countries and has more than 440 million users. The developers of the new version of ColorOS decided to pay special attention to inclusivity, making it the main theme. In line with OPPO's Infinite Design concept, which involves a lightweight, sleek and versatile design that is easily customizable, the new OS also provides a more inclusive experience. The interface is presented with smoother icons, animations and an information structure that adapts to different languages and cultures, as well as to different smartphone formats.

An even smoother and more seamless experience for better performance

Providing users with a seamless and flawless experience is at the core of OPPO's research, development and innovation. The new ColorOS 12 combines comfort and durability. Thanks to the significant efforts of the ORRO optimization team, ColorOS 12 has achieved considerable success in eliminating lags and delays caused by long-term use of the gadget, especially from the point of view of anti-fragmentation and intelligent resource allocation. So, the aging factor of the system decreased by 2,75% in three years. In addition, it was possible to reduce memory usage by 30% and battery drain by 20%.

Considering users' visual intuition, the Quantum Animation Engine applies more than 300 enhanced animations to make animation effects look more realistic. With more natural and fluid animations, the overall user experience becomes intuitive for the human brain.

Practical features like PC Connect, 3-Finger Translate based on Google Lens, FlexDrop and Phone Manager enable ColorOS 12 users to stay productive in any usage scenario.

Privacy is a priority: no gimmicks - we focus on the basics

OPPO carefully studies user feedback and prioritizes privacy in ColorOS. ColorOS 12 comes with all the improved security and privacy features of Android 12, such as Privacy Dashboards, Approximate Location Sharing, and Microphone and Camera Indicators. This enables smartphone owners to be masters of their personal information and use clearly visualized menus and buttons. In addition, ColorOS 12 retains familiar and beloved features developed by the OPPO team, such as Private System, Private Safe, App Lock, and more.

Realizing that privacy for users also means maintaining transparency, OPPO has improved data compliance through storage and processing. With servers located in several locations around the world, the company guarantees that user data will remain on nearby servers, which will store it in plain text format and transmit it using its own protocol.

With privacy certifications from reputable organizations such as ePrivacy and ISO27001, OPPO engages a third-party data security supervisor to ensure compliance with day-to-day processes.

An operating system open to Android developers

Just as Android 12 took into account ColorOS's tendency towards customization, ColorOS accommodated many standard Android features. In this way, ORRO demonstrates that it shares the values of a healthy partnership with Android and promotes a culture of openness and technological sharing for the betterment of both platforms. For example, a function similar to Wallpaper-based Theming system ("Themes based on wallpapers") in Material You, users could already meet in previous versions of ColorOS. Another great example of sharing between companies is App Cloner from ColorOS, which is now available in Android 12.

OPPO's ColorOS aims to be a more user-friendly operating system for Android developers. In addition to free camera SDKs that offer stunning shooting capabilities such as Ultra Steady Video Shooting, HDR, Super Wide-Angle, etc., OPPO is also improving its HyperBoost feature and Color Vision Enhancement ("Improvement of color perception"). In this way, the brand helps Android app developers and improves the Android ecosystem.

ColorOS 12 deployment plan

OPPO will release ColorOS 12 public beta in Indonesia, Thailand and Malaysia on Find X3 Pro 5G today. The rollout will then continue in other countries and on additional devices throughout 2021-2022. The company aims to roll out ColorOS 12 to more than 110 models and 150 million users.

Exclusive OPPO update policy

The company is announcing a major update policy for the first time. In particular, it applies to OPPO devices manufactured since 2019. The manufacturer guarantees three major Android updates for the flagship models of the Find X series, two Android updates for the Reno/F/K series and some A series models, as well as one update for the A series models with a small amount of memory. Additionally, expect four years of regular security updates for the Find X series and three years for the Reno/F/K and A series.

I have always been interested in IT technologies. And since my previous many years of professional activity (which is design and pre-press preparation) is not possible without their help, it so happened that everything that was related to computers (for example, collecting and modernizing "hardware", as well as configuring software ) I always had to do it myself.

Well, with the advent of gadgets in our lives, the scope of my interests expanded to include them as well.

I like to study and analyze the capabilities of various devices, and for many years, before buying anything new, I always study the capabilities of each potential model for a long time and carefully, spend quite a long and painstaking work, read reviews, reviews and comparisons.

The reward for my time is usually that most of the time I really do get the best of what I can get within my budget.
