Google is updating the design of Chrome to match the style of Windows 11

The visual changes appeared in one of the latest test versions of Chrome Canary, but to run them, you need to activate the corresponding option on the experimental features page.

As for changes to the appearance of Chrome for Windows, there are not many at the moment. The developers have updated the design of context menus that appear when you right-click anywhere in the browser or when you open a menu item. The rounded corners of the windows and the shadow effect are one of the noticeable changes in the design. The appearance of an experimental function is also noted, the activation of which makes the context menu of the browser transparent.

Microsoft recently confirmed that applications using the new design elements will not affect the performance of the operating system. All changes are carefully tested for impact on overall performance based on available data. This means that the rounded corners of the windows, redesigned menu and other innovations will not slow down the platform.

You can experience the new Chrome design now. To do this, you need to download and install the latest version of Canary from the Chrome://flags page, activate the Windows 11 Styles menu option, and restart the browser. Most likely, these are not the last changes in the appearance of Chrome, and soon the Windows version of the browser will have more innovations.

Google is testing "smart" grouping of visited pages by topics in Chrome

Google Chrome developers are experimenting with new features to help users explore interesting topics by comparing their open page with other search results. This feature provides additional ways to track your topic.

The new feature automatically matches pages and information related to the same topic; so users don't have to manually browse history or create new folders with all these bookmarked pages. In addition, Chrome shows additional search tips, which also makes learning about the topic easier.

Pages are grouped by topic locally, and results are not synchronized with yours Google score; this means that such groups cannot be accessed from different devices. But it is quite possible that such an opportunity will appear in the future. The new feature is currently only available in the previous version of Chrome Canary. You can find travel experiences for the topics you are studying on the browsing history page.

Another related feature is the search sidebar. By opening the page from the link in the search results; the user will see an icon in the form of the letter “G” next to the address bar. Clicking on this icon in the sidebar will open other search results. This will allow you to compare the opened page with other search results; without having to repeatedly open adjacent tabs and move between them.

This feature is currently being tested on the Chrome OS developer channel. If the tool is made public in the future, the sidebar will become available on other platforms; and support for other search engines will be added.
