Sharp was one of the first companies to introduce bezel-less smartphones to the world. SHARP AQUOS debuted a few years ago with a design that was later used by Xiaomi in its original Mi MIX smartphone.
However, the Japanese company is known as one of the first on the smartphone market. The company is not the most popular smartphone manufacturer, especially due to its focus on the Japanese market, but it constantly updates the AQUOS line. Today, the brand introduced a mid-range smartphone called SHARP AQUOS sense6, as well as a more powerful SHARP AQUOS zero6. The latter is the lightest 5G smartphone, and thankfully it doesn't sacrifice battery capacity.
Specifications SHARP AQUOS zero6
The new SHARP AQUOS zero6 measures 158 x 73 x 7,9 mm and weighs approximately 146 grams. Despite such a light body, the device has a decent battery with a capacity of 4010 mAh. For comparison, the iPhone 12 mini from Apple weighs only 135 grams. However, it has a compact display and a tiny 2227 mAh battery.
The new iPhone 13 mini is heavier at 141 grams, but not much has been done to the battery other than a slight increase to 2438 mAh. The Zero6 weighs a few grams more and has almost twice the battery capacity of the iPhone 13 mini.
Despite the light profile, the device still features a large 6,4-inch OLED display with a resolution of 2340 x 1080 pixels. The device is also the first smartphone on the market with a panel with a refresh rate of 240 Hz. Once again, Sharp proves its commitment to innovation in display design. The panel also comes with Corning Gorilla Glass Victus for ultra-modern protection.
SHARP AQUOS zero6 could be an interesting Snapdragon 888 flagship. However, Sharp decided to make it a premium mid-ranger, cutting some corners in terms of performance. The device is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 750G SoC with 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 128GB of UFS 2.2 storage. It has a four-module camera with a 48 MP main sensor.
Other sensors include an 8MP ultra-wide, an 8MP 2x telephoto lens, and a ToF sensor. Fortunately, we don't have the standard combination of two 2-megapixel macro / depth sensors. For selfies and video calls, the device is equipped with a 12,6 MP camera inside the teardrop notch. In fact, the device is very close in design to its sense6 sibling.
In terms of connectivity, the device has 5G, dual-band Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5.1. It also features dual-band GNSS, NFC with Osaifu-Keitai, and a USB Type C port, runs Android 11 out of the box, and has a MicroSD card slot for up to 1TB, an in-screen fingerprint sensor, and IP68 certification for dust protection and water In other words, the device offers basically the same features as the sense6.
As with the sense6, there are no pricing details. However, the device will go up for pre-order today, September 29. It will be available in black, white and purple colors.
