The Microsoft Surface Laptop Studio was announced alongside other Surface devices and major updates to other Surface products. The American technology company presented the most powerful laptop at the Surface event. Microsoft is touting the new convertible Surface Laptop Studio as an improvement on the Surface Book. It has a completely new design compared to its predecessor, the Surface Book series of laptops.
Last month, Microsoft was rumored to be preparing to replace the Surface Book 3 with a new laptop. Previously released models came with removable displays. However, the screen of the new Studio laptop can be turned into a tablet by simply pulling it forward. Microsoft describes this capability as Studio Mode. In other words, the Surface Laptop Studio is originally a 2-in-1 device that works like a laptop, but can be folded up and used as a tablet.
Microsoft Surface Laptop Studio specifications and features
The Surface Laptop Studio features a giant 14,4-inch PixelSense display. The screen supports a refresh rate of 120 Hz and has Dolby Vision. In addition, the laptop is equipped with a Dynamic Woven Hinge, which allows the device to smoothly switch between three different modes. These include Studio, Stage and Laptop modes. When laptop mode is enabled, users will be able to use Surface Laptop Studio like a regular laptop.
Stage mode is ideal for client presentations, gaming, streaming content, and even docking. To enable this mode, all you have to do is pull the screen forward to a certain angle. In this mode, the keyboard is invisible, only the trackpad is visible. Studio mode is ideal for those who want to use a blank canvas for sketching, correspondence or other creative tasks. The Surface Laptop Studio includes the Surface Slim Pen 2, which attaches with a magnet under the keyboard.
