Huawei AppGallery announced that in order to improve the security of summer educational programs for users, it launched a special test for educational programs in August.
The security function immediately paid off, having tested tens of thousands of applications. It is interesting that a total of 494 problematic applications were detected. Of course, these apps are no longer available in the Huawei app store.
Some of these apps have been notified that potential issues need to be fixed before they can be re-entered the market.
According to available data, this special project includes tens of thousands of applications in almost 10 divisions. Some of the units include translation, English, exam preparation, listening, reading, etc.
24,32% of problematic apps have advertising issues such as frequent pop-ups. Additionally, 75,68% of problematic apps have serious issues with crashes, inability to log in, and other functional issues. At this time, the problematic applications are either removed or sent for correction.
Huawei AppGallery child mode
In addition, a new mode is now available in the Huawei app store. This mode is a new "kids mode" that is only intended for minor users.
Smartphone users can create a child account through an adult Huawei account. From there, they can sign in to their child's account on Huawei phones and tablets to try out Kids Mode.
In this mode, everything the smartphone can access will be safe for children. In fact, if you are in this mode, many "adult apps" are not downloaded. In this way, parents can leave the device to their children without worrying about what they get in the Huawei app store.
Kids Mode can filter whether app content is age-appropriate, reinforce recommendations for positive value, and recommend content using manual settings.
It also actively opts out of certain advertising and promotions. Additionally, in Kids mode, users cannot view the content of comments on the app details page.
Additionally, users will not be able to comment on apps and interactions on the forum. Also, the smartphone will not receive personalized marketing activity.
Huawei is constantly working on its ecosystem, and so far things are going well for the company. Undoubtedly, the HarmonyOS ecosystem is still far from its peers Android and iOS. However, since this system is used by almost 100 million smartphones, it will be different from other smartphone operating systems.
However, if Huawei is to reach the level of iOS and Android, it should consider a global release. For now, only Chinese models get HarmonyOS. This will change soon enough, and we will finally see the true craftsmanship of Huawei.
