The Apple Watch is a functional device that can also save lives. Cases of rescue happened more than once, and the media enthusiastically told stories about how a smart watch saved users from certain death. But there are other stories when the Apple Watch helped criminals carry out their criminal plans.
One of those cases happened in January last year. It was the Apple Watch that helped criminals track down a drug dealer in New York and steal $500 from him.
Resourceful gangsters decided that it is worth using the drug dealer's means of illegal drug sales. And to track him down, they used an Apple Watch as a GPS tracker, which they fixed under the bumper of his car.
Through the "Locator" application, it was possible to establish that the drug dealer's car was parked near one of the hotels. Arriving at the place, they broke the window of the car, but, unfortunately, it was not possible to find anything valuable in the interior of the car.
At that moment, a drug dealer who was beaten came out of the hotel, and the key to the room was taken from him, in which they found a bag with $500 in cash. Proud of the fact that they managed to carry out the operation, the bandits decided to save the moment of triumph as a souvenir - they took a picture against the background of the catch. These same photos later became evidence of their involvement in the crime after their arrest.
Apple Watch sales exceeded 100 million units
Sales statistics for smart watches from Apple were previously published online. There are some interesting "indicators" to consider.
Let's start with the fact that Apple has sold 100 million wearable devices in five years. The number is impressive, but there is still room for improvement.
For comparison: Apple smartphones are used by about a billion people in the world. It turns out that only 10% of iPhone users have decided to buy an Apple Watch, and 90% still do not consider it necessary or appropriate to buy a smart watch together with their smartphone.
Separately, it should be noted that 2020 million watches were sold in 30 alone, which is several times more than in the period 2015-2017.
With such statistics, it is hard to deny the company's growth and success in this segment. Most likely, Apple will continue to develop the smartwatch industry and actively promote new services and innovations.
This is simply necessary to maintain positive momentum and encourage even more iPhone users to consider purchasing an Apple Watch.
