Redmi operates in many segments today, from smartphones to wearables and laptops. The company is expanding in several directions, but the main focus is on the main business — smartphones.
Redmi now has premium smartphones, flagship killers, premium mid-range smartphones and even gaming devices. However, it all started with the regular Redmi series of smartphones.
Although these usually evolve into the Redmi Note series, the company continues to focus on the basic Redmi smartphones and it is achieving good results. After the highly successful Redmi 9 series, the company entered the tenth generation with the Redmi 10.
If you remember, we presented all the details about the Redmi 10 last week. We don't know exactly when Xiaomi planned to release the Redmi 10, but now it's almost a week after the unofficial launch of the co
Redmi 10 specifications
Redmi 10 is the first smartphone with a display with a high refresh rate. It has the same 6,5-inch diagonal as the Redmi 9. However, this time we have a display with a centered hole and a refresh rate of 90 Hz.
The display can vary the refresh rate between 60Hz and 45Hz depending on the content displayed on the screen. The panel has a Full HD+ resolution.
Under the hood, the smartphone houses a MediaTek Helio G88 SoC. For those who don't know, it's a refined version of the Helio G85 that offers a higher refresh rate at 1080p+ resolution.
It's still based on the 12nm architecture, still has the same old Cortex-A75 cores, and still has the same Mali-G57 MC2 GPU. Either way, this chipset does the job.
The device comes in variants with 4 GB and 6 GB of RAM. The former is available in 64GB or 128GB storage options, while the latter comes with 128GB. There are conflicting reports about microSD availability, so we'll wait a bit for further confirmation from Xiaomi.
In terms of optics, we have a big upgrade in the Redmi 10. Although the Redmi 9 arrived to democratize “Quad-Cameras”, it was a bit lackluster with a 13MP main camera, an 8MP ultra-wide and two not-so-useful 2MP sensors .
The Redmi 10 is a big upgrade, offering a 50MP primary camera. It comes with the same 8MP ultra-wide module, 2MP macro camera and 2MP depth sensor. This is almost a "normal" combination in mid-range Redmi smartphones.
The front camera is an 8-megapixel camera. Other features include stereo speakers and a 3,5mm headphone jack. The device has Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.x and a USB Type-C port. It runs Android 11 with MIUI 12.5 on top.
In addition, there is a battery with a capacity of 5000 mAh. The smartphone supports 18W fast charging and 9W reverse wired charging. Xiaomi showed kindness and provided a 22,5 W charger in the kit.
Prices and availability
Redmi 10 is available in Carbon Grey, Pebble White, Navy Blue. The base model with 4GB/64GB retails for $180. The 4GB/128GB option costs $200, while the 6GB/128GB option will set you back $220. The device will go on sale from August 20. It will make its way to Malaysia first, but only the base and premium versions will be available.
