According to a recent report, in the new supporting documents on Apple's official website, the company admits that when users use the scanner on a Mac computer, errors may occur.
The error occurs when users try to use the Image Capture program, the Preview program, or printers and scanners. When users try to use the scanner feature in System Preferences on Mac, they may receive an error prompt.
The prompt will show that the user does not have permission to open the application. The user should contact the computer or network administrator for help. The error message starts with "You do not have permission to open the application".
Some Mac users who have been affected by this bug have shared the problem in places like the Apple Support Community and Reddit. This bug appears to affect users of multiple versions of macOS Big Sur.
According to Apple, it is currently working on a solution to this problem. The company also says that the next software update should resolve the issue. However, there is no specific time for software updates.
At the same time, Apple also gave temporary solution to the problem :
- Close any open programs;
- From the Finder menu bar, choose Go > Go To Folder;
- Type /Library/Image Capture/Devices and then press Enter;
- In the window that opens, double-click the program indicated in the error message. This is the name of the scanner driver. Nothing should happen when you open it.
Close this window and open the application used for scanning. The new scan should go fine.
If the user later chooses to scan from another application and receives the same error, repeat these steps.
