Some Windows 11 installation images contain Trojans

Before the actual release of Windows 11, there were unofficial versions (mirror versions) of this system.

Unfortunately, some of these Windows 11 ISO mirrors downloaded from unofficial sources hide dangers. Kaspersky reports that these ISO images often contain malware. Kaspersky reported an example - 86307_windows 11 build 21996.1 x64 + activator.exe with 1,75 GB.

The file size is 1,75 GB, which seems plausible, but in reality most of the file consists of a DLL file that contains a lot of useless information.

Opening this executable will launch an installer that looks like a regular Windows installation wizard. However, its main purpose is to download and run another executable, which is more interesting.

The second executable is also an installer, it even comes with a license agreement that very few people read. Fake Windows 11 calls it "download manager for 86307_windows 11 build 21996.1 x64 + activator" (86307_windows 11 build 21996.1 x64 downloader + activation). If you accept the deal, various malware will be installed on your device.

Kaspersky claims that they have detected hundreds of infection attempts using programs similar to Windows 11. Much of this malware consists of bootloaders whose job it is to download and run other programs.

These other programs can range from relatively harmless adware (which Kaspersky classifies as non-virus) to powerful Trojans. He also claims that some of these programs are password stealers, vulnerabilities, and "other annoying things."

Since Microsoft provides Windows 11 for free, the best way to get the software is to join the Window 11 Insider program.

Just go to the Update & Security tab in the Windows 10 Settings app and scroll down to the Windows Early Evaluation Plan. Of course, the prerequisite is to meet the minimum hardware configuration requirements of Windows 11.

Windows 11 optimizes Win32 programs

There are reports that the main focus of Microsoft's app optimization team is traditional Win32 apps, not UWP. In particular, Windows 11 will focus on embedding WinUI 3 in Win32 applications. The latest was announced at the Build 2020 conference. It is a new user interface that inherits the traditions of WinUI and UWP XAML, and also provides the latest graphical features and styles of Fluent Design.

Office updated to Windows 11 seems to be a microcosm of WinUI3. The so-called Win32 application is actually the most common and familiar to us - an executable .exe program, but there are a lot of programs that are not compatible with the visual style of Win11. According to Microsoft, the official version of Windows 11 will arrive by the end of the year.

I have always been interested in IT technologies. And since my previous many years of professional activity (which is design and pre-press preparation) is not possible without their help, it so happened that everything that was related to computers (for example, collecting and modernizing "hardware", as well as configuring software ) I always had to do it myself.

Well, with the advent of gadgets in our lives, the scope of my interests expanded to include them as well.

I like to study and analyze the capabilities of various devices, and for many years, before buying anything new, I always study the capabilities of each potential model for a long time and carefully, spend quite a long and painstaking work, read reviews, reviews and comparisons.

The reward for my time is usually that most of the time I really do get the best of what I can get within my budget.
