One thing I personally refrain from is sharing media files on WhatsApp. You ask why? The messaging platform is notorious for degrading video or photo quality. Despite the fact that you created a media file using the powerful cameras of your device, the receiver will still receive it in a low-quality form, with reduced detail.
Well, it looks like this issue of poor quality media sharing is finally being addressed. According to WABetaInfo, Facebook appears to be working on a new feature that addresses the same issue.
WhatsApp will soon let you choose the quality of the media when sharing!
WhatsApp recently rolled out a new update through the Google Play beta program. With that said, the beta has now increased to 2.21.14.6. WABetaInfo managed to find a new feature that the company is working on. This feature is called "Video Download Quality". As the name suggests, it allows users to choose between several quality options when submitting videos to the platform.

- Auto (recommended): WhatsApp automatically compresses videos based on its algorithm
- The best quality: WhatsApp will send the video in the best quality
- Saving data: WhatsApp focuses more on saving your data rather than video quality
It is worth noting that this dialog box will appear only when sharing videos on the platform. There is no word on whether such options will be available when sharing images. That being said, this feature is currently under development and should make its way to the public release in the coming months.
This is not the only feature that is currently being worked on!
Apart from video download quality, WhatsApp also has another feature. This one is called "View message once". In an effort to clean up its image, WhatsApp plans to introduce a new feature. "View once" mode allows you to view received photos and videos only once. After that, the receiver will not be able to open the media. Of course, this causes many problems.
