Chrome OS fans rejoice! It's finally time to use the compact Samsung Galaxy Book with ChromeOS and decent specs.
The Korean firm is preparing to introduce a new device called the Galaxy Chromebook Go. The device is rumored to be coming very soon, and today some of its key specs have surfaced.
The new Galaxy Chromebook Go will have a silver exterior, which we have to say looks more like white. In contrast to the exterior, we have an interior that is completely black, right down to the keyboard.
My we believe that some prefer more "flashy" colors, but Samsung wants to keep a sober approach at least for now. After all, it may only be a specific color scheme, and the company may reveal other color options in the future. The device is obviously an entry-level device, so we can tell from the renders that it is made of polycarbonate.
Galaxy Chromebook Go specifications
Coming back to the specifications, the Galaxy Chromebook features a 14-inch HD TFT display with a resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels. This type of resolution is common among mid-range and entry-level laptops. Some will prefer FHD, but at this price we may be asking for too much. In terms of processor power, Samsung will be betting on the Intel Celeron N4500, one of Intel's new Jasper Lake processors announced earlier this year. It has a TDP of 6W which will result in low power consumption and incredible battery life.
The laptop will be available in 4GB and 8GB versions of LPDDR4X RAM. In terms of storage, it will come with 32GB, 64GB or 128GB of eMMC storage. Of course, users will get a microSD card slot in case they need more space. There are also two USB-C ports, a USB 3.2 port, a Nano protection jack, and a combined headphone and microphone jack. The LTE version will also have a nano-SIM slot.
The Galaxy Chromebook Go will also have Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.1, a 720p webcam and stereo speakers. The device has a 42,3Wh battery which is charged via a 45W Type-C charger.
We expect an announcement with pricing details and an availability date to be made soon. However, the entry-level variant will likely cost less than $350.
Of course, we can also expect it to drop to $299 thanks to the HD panel for 32GB of storage. The LTE version will likely be limited to the variant that comes with more RAM and built-in storage.
