PlayStation 5 has achieved unprecedented success in sales. However, there are some differences in the console's early game lineup.
In an interview with Axios, PlayStation Studio boss Jim Ryan seemed confident that the early lineup of Sony PS5 games was better than the PS4.
Jim Ryan said: “Yes, the PS4's lifetime performance is very good. However, most of these games are in the second half of the cycle. This time we made a conscious effort to improve it. So far, what you see shows that we have indeed made progress. In just a few months since the launch of the Sony PS5, we've launched some incredible games. In addition, more games are in the pipeline. And developers are just beginning to take advantage of PS5 technology. I can't wait to see what PlayStation Studios and our third-party partners create for PS5. If Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Death Returns, and games like Ricky and Ding Dong: The Separation are the games that came out in the first six months of the PS5. Imagine what we will see in the second or third year."
In the interview, Ryan seemed to be referring indirectly to the recent irritation of their rival Microsoft. He argues that successful development is a matter of creative freedom, not "spending money."
He said: "Bringing in creative talent isn't just about investing money, it's that simple. You must also give them the freedom to create, allow them to take risks and come up with new ideas. Just look at Sugar Punch's Ghost of Tsushima. It's not the game we think they're going to make, but we're not too rigid or corporate with the talent. We want them to use our equipment as their creative palette.”
It's worth mentioning that Sony recently announced that it is preparing to launch a major system update for the PS5 later this year, and is currently looking for users to test the upcoming features. By then, the PS5's long-awaited M.2 solid-state drive slot may be activated, or the console may finally get variable refresh rate and 1440p support.
The Sony PS5 features a dedicated AMD APU, a high-speed 825GB solid-state drive, and supports 4K 120Hz video output. According to Sony, the packaging for this product is completely recyclable. In order to protect the environment, the company uses more paper instead of plastic.
