Firefox, as a world-renowned browser, has its own developed core. But before, it did not have an independently developed translation function. Instead, users need to install extensions such as Google Translate. Mozilla recently announced the launch Firefox Translations, a self-developed translation tool for Firefox. Unlike conventional translation tools, Firefox Translations translation functionality is performed locally in the system to protect user privacy.
Mozilla has announced that Firefox Translations has officially launched in the versions of Firefox Nightly. However, users of this browser will need to enable it manually:
- Enter about: config in the address bar of Firefox;
- Search for the translations.disabled extension;
- Set the parameter to false;
- Just restart your browser.
When Firefox Translations is enabled the translate button is shown at the top of the web page. The feature is already relatively complete and you can experience it now. This latest Mozilla feature gives users more translation options. Of course, users can still stick with the Google Translate plugin or have both options. Be that as it may, Mozilla promises that its translation feature provides a higher level of security.
Firefox browser for macOS: dark mode optimization and full-screen mode support
According to the weekly Firefox-Nightly update, Mozilla is improving some elements of the macOS version of the browser to improve the browser's own visual effects. New improvements include:
- Support for native macOS full-screen mode
- Animation effects when the scrollbar hits the bottom and top of the web page
- Dark mode improvements.
According to Mozilla, a new flat scrollbar animation effect is enabled in Firefox Nightly. However, users need to enable the native full-screen mode and advanced dark mode features themselves. If you need to activate native full-screen mode, you will need to type “about:config” and then open “full-screen-api.macos-native-full-screen”. To enable advanced dark mode, you need to type “about:config” again and then open “widget.macos.respect-system-izgled”.
Work on improving native macOS full-screen support and improved dark mode is still ongoing. So, users who want to be the first can face many problems after enabling these features in Firefox Nightly. Users who are looking for stability can wait for the official stable version of this browser. The current version of Firefox 90 on Nightly is a beta version (expires June 1st). According to Firefox's FX Trains, the official version of Firefox 90 should be available on July 13, 2021.
