Xiaomi is slowly rolling out Android 11-based updates to its smartphones, which also offer MIUI 12.5. Some smartphones received Android 11 with MIUI 12 a long time ago, and now the company is offering MIUI 12.5 as an optional update. It is worth noting that the global MIUI 12.5 was released in February, but the company is still spending a lot of time to offer it for global smartphones. With all that said, Mi Note 10 Lite and Redmi K30 Ultra are the latest smartphones to join the list of MIUI 12.5 supported smartphones. These are two different smartphones. The former is a China-exclusive flagship, while the latter is a mid-range phone.
Redmi K30 Ultra
The Redmi K30 Ultra was launched alongside the Mi 10 Ultra as part of Xiaomi's 10th anniversary celebrations. The devices were released in August 2020 last year and remained China-exclusive smartphones. Both devices came with MIUI 12 based on Android 10. A few months before its first anniversary, the device received MIUI 12.5 on top of Android 11. Update is coming as V12.5.3.0.RJNCXM and includes all the goodies introduced by MIUI 12.5. There are more privacy controls and the system is now optimized and consumes less resources.
My Note 10 Lite
The Xiaomi Note 10 Lite was launched earlier and for that reason the device launched with the old MIUI 11 based on Android 10. This smartphone is a lightweight variant of the first 108-megapixel Xiaomi Mi Note 10 smartphone. It has similar specifications with the biggest difference being that that it has a 64-megapixel camera. The phone later received the MIUI 12 update and also got the Android 11 firmware update earlier this year. Now Xiaomi is adding MIUI 12.5 to the device. The update covers the global Mi Note 10 Lite variant. It has build number V12.5.1.0.RFNMIXM.
One noteworthy fact about these updates is that they are called “Stable Beta”. For this reason, the updates will not reach a large number of users at this time. The update will be presented by several parties selected by the owners. Then the company will go ahead and check if the update is really worth the "stable" name. If everything goes smoothly, the company will release a wide release for all eligible smartphones. We should hear more about this update in the coming days. Mi Note 10 Lite has several regional variants (EEA, Turkey, Russia). So it may take a little longer to release.
