Samsung patented an unusual design of a complex gadget designed to solve two important problems at the same time. In addition to the huge, by smartphone standards, display area, the concept provides for an original way of placing the electronic pen, which does not require a special compartment in the case.
According to documentation the main feature of the smartphone will be the ability to bend the screen along two lines at the same time. In this case, the manufacturer is considering different versions of the device that fold both inside and outside. In both cases, the stylus is placed between the bent parts of the gadget; attaching to the body and recharging its own battery.
The patent images also show the device with a dual front-facing sensor built into the display and a piezoelectric speaker. The main camera of the device, located on the back, includes two sensors and an LED flash. The source did not disclose technical specifications, a possible announcement date, or the expected price of the device.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 2 will receive IP protection
The manufacturers taught us that the flagships offer IP68 protection, which allows you to safely take them with you in the bath or on the beach. Folding devices, including the Galaxy Fold and Galaxy Flip, do not work this way, they are not water resistant. Naturally, owners of such expensive devices would like to get some level of assurance that the devices will not suffer from moisture or sand.
Recently, Sammobile reported that the upcoming members of the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 2 foldable smartphone families should be protected against water and dust, that is, they will offer an IP protection class. At the moment, there is no understanding of what standard of protection we are talking about. Whether this will be the base level with a minimum splash protection of IP54 or a maximum of IP68, which allows it to be submerged in water for a short time, is not known. In any case, if Samsung is successful, then its new products will be the first IP-protected devices on the market.
Samsung plans to release the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 2 later this year. Roughly, we are talking about July or August. The company will be limited to the production of these two models. Rumors that there could be four foldable Samsung mobile phones this year, the source denies. We expect the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 2 to be powered by the Snapdragon 888 chip, offer 256GB of non-volatile storage, the first of the newcomers should get dual batteries with a total capacity of 4275mAh, and stylus support. Although there are predictions that the Galaxy Z Fold 3 will be honored with an Exynos 9925 chip with AMD graphics.
