This year, Asus is expected to introduce the ZenFone 8 series of smartphones. Information about one of the representatives of this family appeared in the popular Geekbench test.
The device is shown as ASUS_I004D. According to some sources, this is the base model of the ZenFone 8, according to others - a more powerful version of the ZenFone 8 Pro.
The test says to use the Lahaina motherboard. This codename hides the flagship platform Qualcomm Snapdragon 888. The processor combines eight computing cores with a frequency of up to 2,84 GHz, the Adreno 660 accelerator and the Snapdragon X60 5G modem.
The tested version was equipped with 8 GB of RAM, but observers believe that the ZenFone 8 series devices will have up to 16 GB of RAM. The operating system is Android 11.
There were also reports that there would be a ZenFone 8 Mini model in the family. In addition, allegedly, like its older brothers, there will be a Snapdragon 888 chip on board.
The device has a 120 Hz display and a PTZ camera. We do not yet know the timing of the announcement.
The compact Asus ZenFone 8 Mini flagship will get a 120 Hz screen and a Snapdragon 888 chip
Earlier, information appeared on the Internet about the key technical characteristics of the compact ZenFone 8 Mini flagship smartphone, which Asus is preparing for release.
The "heart" of the powerful device will be a Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 processor with eight cores (up to 2,84 GHz), an Adreno 660 graphics accelerator and a Snapdragon X60 5G modem.
The device will receive a Samsung OLED Full HD+ display with a resolution of 2400 × 1080 pixels. The refresh rate of this panel will be up to 120 Hz. The size of the screen will be relatively small by modern standards - 5,9 inches.
It is not yet clear how many modules will be included in the main camera. But there are reports that one of them will be a device with a 64-megapixel Sony IMX686 sensor; and the other with the new Sony IMX663 sensor.
Apparently, the Asus ZenFone 8 Mini will be an Android alternative to the Apple iPhone 12 Mini, which has a 5,4-inch screen.
Unfortunately, there is no word on when and at what price the new Asus product will hit the commercial market.
