Huawei is trying to maintain its relevance in the smartphone market now that attracting the usual annual number of smartphones is impossible. Instead of offering mid-range phones, the company will focus on the flagship segment. The company will present the Huawei P50 series. The devices were rumored to arrive in March, but due to ban issues, the company has reportedly pushed it forward. The fact is that the company had hoped to reach an agreement with the US government, which is currently under the Biden administration, but there is no sign yet that the ban will be lifted. In the midst of the crisis, the company is preparing its HarmonyOS, which will replace Android on its smartphones, and apparently both the new OS and the flagship series will appear next month.
A Huawei employee with the nickname @FoxSister reported that Huawei will hold two events next month. The events will take place between April 22 and April 27. The topic of the press conference: "Wisdom that connects everything, wisdom and hundreds of people" and "Artistic deconstruction, meeting the future."
Huawei will launch HarmonyOS on April 24, and the Huawei P50 series will ship with the software on April 27
The first event probably means the release of HarmonyOS 2.0. However, it is not clear if this is HarmonyOS 2.0. For those not in the know, it is expected to debut as Huawei's new smartphone operating system. Also, @BalanPanda reported that Huawei will hold the Huawei HDC developer conference from April 24-26. The company will reveal more details about its HongMeng system, which is expected to debut on April 24. So, there is a consensus that the new iteration of HarmonyOS will be presented on April 24. Hopefully, this is the long-awaited version of its mobile OS for smartphones.
In addition to the above content, the blogger also posted some content related to the Huawei P50 series running HarmonyOS. The post contained the English slogan "artistic deconstruction", which corresponds to the second issue. While the P50 series does appear to be launching on April 27th, it's unclear whether that's a Chinese or overseas release. A global release is rumored to take place in May.
The new Huawei P50 series will come with distinct variations of the Kirin 9000 chips. Due to the shortage of chips, they will mostly be sold in limited quantities. Apart from this, the company is likely to release three variants – Huawei P50, P50 Pro and P50 Pro +.
