A faulty iPad battery burned down the whole house

A lawsuit was filed against Apple in the District Court of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in March of this year, which this week reached the federal district court. Plaintiff Michael Macaluso alleges his home burned down because of the iPad's electrical and battery systems.

Allstate Insurance paid more than $142 to repair Michael Macaluso's fire-damaged home. He has now hired a law firm to seek compensation from Apple.

The lawsuit alleges that Macaluso did not modify, use or make any changes to his iPad beyond the intended use that Apple intended.

A similar lawsuit was filed against Apple in 2019 on behalf of Julia Ireland Meo, a resident of New Jersey; whose father died in an apartment fire allegedly caused by a faulty iPad battery.

The owner of the apartment complex where the fire occurred has filed a second lawsuit against Apple through his insurance company, seeking reimbursement. Claims are still being processed.

It's worth noting that accidents like this aren't exclusive to iPads, we've also seen a few cases involving iPhone batteries.

An Apple iPhone charger caught fire in the middle of the night right in bed

It's worth mentioning that a 17-year-old girl named Amy Hall from Birmingham, England recently reported that her iPhone charger caught fire and set a blanket on fire.
The incident happened on the night of March 18, when Amy Hall went to bed. She plugged her iPhone into the charger and left it on the bed next to her. After some time, the girl suddenly noticed a flame right on the blanket and got a burn on her cheek. Amy called her mother, with whom they extinguished the fire without calling the fire department. Amy Hall shared photos of her bedding and a melted charging cable on Facebook; which once again demonstrates what the habit of leaving your smartphone next to your bed overnight can lead to. Modern smartphones and chargers have technologies to protect against voltage surges, overheating, etc. However, not all manufacturers produce equally high-quality products

"Birmingham Post" suggested that the girl used an Apple charging cable and another brand of power, but Amy Hall claims the opposite: "It wasn't some cheap charger - it was an Apple adapter. Please don't leave your phone charging overnight."

Apple is currently investigating the cause of the fire. The company recommends not charging the iPhone in damp or poorly ventilated areas. This may cause the charger to overheat. The company also advised to regularly check accessories for damage.

I have always been interested in IT technologies. And since my previous many years of professional activity (which is design and pre-press preparation) is not possible without their help, it so happened that everything that was related to computers (for example, collecting and modernizing "hardware", as well as configuring software ) I always had to do it myself.

Well, with the advent of gadgets in our lives, the scope of my interests expanded to include them as well.

I like to study and analyze the capabilities of various devices, and for many years, before buying anything new, I always study the capabilities of each potential model for a long time and carefully, spend quite a long and painstaking work, read reviews, reviews and comparisons.

The reward for my time is usually that most of the time I really do get the best of what I can get within my budget.
