Samsung presented a 512 GB DDR5 RAM module

Samsung Electronics has announced that it is developing the industry's first DDR5 memory using High-K Metal Gate (HKMG) technology. This is a technology that uses high permittivity dielectrics and metal gates.

The company has already expanded its portfolio with a corresponding 5 GB DDR512 module. In this case, one module accommodates eight layers of DRAM chips with a density of 16 Gbits, connected using the technology of volumetric layout with interlayer connections (Through-Silicon Vias, TSV).

This memory provides a data transfer rate of up to 7200 Mbit / s, which is twice that of DDR4. Samsung itself talks about the use of such modules in supercomputers and calculations related to artificial intelligence and machine learning.

Also, the Korean giant notes 13% less energy consumption of the new memory.

Samsung Display is the market leader in smartphone displays

The volume of the global smartphone display market in 2020 was 43 billion dollars. In any case, this is exactly the value reported in the Strategy Analytics report.

So, according to Strategy Analytics experts, Samsung Display is the leader in the smartphone display market. This alone accounts for 50% of all income. BOE Technology ranks second with 15%, and LG Display is third with 8%.

2020 was characterized by an increase in the share of OLED panels. Such panels have already become common not only in more expensive models, but also in models of the mass segment. At the end of the year, OLED panels occupy 60% of the market.

“We forecast that smartphone manufacturers' purchases of display panels will be stable through 2021, driven by 5G technologies and high-quality displays. At the same time, we expect LCDs to lag behind OLEDs in the smartphone display panel market.”

I have always been interested in IT technologies. And since my previous many years of professional activity (which is design and pre-press preparation) is not possible without their help, it so happened that everything that was related to computers (for example, collecting and modernizing "hardware", as well as configuring software ) I always had to do it myself.

Well, with the advent of gadgets in our lives, the scope of my interests expanded to include them as well.

I like to study and analyze the capabilities of various devices, and for many years, before buying anything new, I always study the capabilities of each potential model for a long time and carefully, spend quite a long and painstaking work, read reviews, reviews and comparisons.

The reward for my time is usually that most of the time I really do get the best of what I can get within my budget.
