In the fourth quarter of 2020, Huawei dominates the Chinese wearable market

IDC today released its quarterly China Wearable Market Tracking Report for the fourth quarter of 2020. The report shows that the Chinese wearable device market shipped 2020 million units in the fourth quarter of 30,26, up 7,7% year-on-year. Shipments of core wearable devices (wearable devices that do not support third-party applications) totaled 25,18 million units, up 10,3% year-over-year. However, shipments of smart wearables reached 5,08 million units, down 3,6% year-on-year.

Looking at manufacturers, Huawei continues to maintain its #1 position in the market this quarter. The main source of its growth is the line of headsets (Freebuds Pro) and the GT Watch series (Watch GT Pro). Xiaomi is in the second position. These are the Mi Air 2 series Bluetooth headsets, and the new Redmi Watch keeps its position secure.

As for Apple, it is now in the third position. The Apple Watch product line has seen significant growth, largely thanks to the Series 6 and SE. The company is now closing in on Xiaomi in second place.

Huawei to rise to the leading positions in the market of handheld devices

While many think Huawei is in trouble because of the US ban, the company technically isn't. The US ban only significantly affects the smartphone business. However, Huawei is much more than just smartphones. Thus, other numerous enterprises work without interruption. Recently, Yu Chengdong, CEO of Huawei's consumer business, said on Weibo that its wearable market share is the highest in the world. The wrist wearable segment includes smart watches and smart bands. The company also presented its new flagship scientific laboratory of sports health in Xi'an.

According to Y. Chegdun, more than 40 researchers and developers work in the Scientific Laboratory of Sports Health in Xi'an. These personnel are specialists in the field of computer software, engineering, physics, mathematics, sports and other disciplines. Together, they create more innovative research methods and help more people exercise more scientifically and live healthier lives.

Huawei has a standard for its smart wearables. They usually have an extraordinary two-week battery life, 17 professional sports functions such as running, swimming and skiing, professional health monitoring functions such as heart rate, ECG and sleep... This scientific expertise is born in sports health Huawei Scientific Laboratory.

Yu Chengdong also said that more Huawei smart wearables will be tested in the lab in the future. The only products that will eventually make it to market are those that pass the test. The company will collaborate with local sports health innovation capabilities to build an innovative, leading and open Huawei sports health ecosystem. In addition, Huawei plans to build another sports health laboratory at Songshan Lake, Dongguan.

I have always been interested in IT technologies. And since my previous many years of professional activity (which is design and pre-press preparation) is not possible without their help, it so happened that everything that was related to computers (for example, collecting and modernizing "hardware", as well as configuring software ) I always had to do it myself.

Well, with the advent of gadgets in our lives, the scope of my interests expanded to include them as well.

I like to study and analyze the capabilities of various devices, and for many years, before buying anything new, I always study the capabilities of each potential model for a long time and carefully, spend quite a long and painstaking work, read reviews, reviews and comparisons.

The reward for my time is usually that most of the time I really do get the best of what I can get within my budget.
