Xiaomi will launch the first Redmi gaming smartphone later this month

Lu Weibong, president of Xiaomi Group China and CEO of Redmi, announced on his social media page Weibo that Redmi will launch its first gaming phone equipped with the flagship SoC Dimensity 1200 SoC in March.

In January, MediaTek unveiled its flagship size 1200 SoC, which is manufactured using a 6nm process. Immediately after the announcement, Redmi confirmed that it plans to be one of the first to release a smartphone based on this platform.

The configuration of the Dimensity 1200 includes eight cores (1 + 3 + 4), the main of which is the Cortex-A78, which operates at a frequency of 3,0 GHz. Three more Cortex-A78 cores with a frequency of 2,6 GHz and four energy-efficient Cortex-A55 cores operating at a frequency of 2,0 GHz are additionally installed. The platform received support for MediaTek HyperEngine 3.0 technology, which is aimed at increasing performance in games.

The first Redmi gaming smartphone will have a Samsung E4 AMOLED flat screen. Lu Weibing noted that the first tests confirmed the excellent performance and energy efficiency of the Dimensity 1200.

Xiaomi is the third largest smartphone brand in the world, the Redmi Note series exceeds 200 million shipments

Xiaomi was the first company to release a flagship with Qualcomm's Snapdragon 888 chipset. The brand introduced the Mi 11 in December with MIUI 12.5. Recently, the company officially announced a new flagship for global markets, along with a corresponding version of MIUI designed for a global audience. In addition to the new software version and the flagship, the company took the opportunity to reveal details about its progress. Despite the continuous pandemic that ravaged the market last year, the brand managed to become the third largest smartphone brand in the world. The Redmi brand also broke some records last year.

According to the brand's announcement, it is the first smartphone brand in ten markets, with India being one of the most prominent. Before that, it reached at least the third position in 36 markets. The Chinese giant is also the fastest growing brand in the premium segment with a staggering 3639% year-on-year growth in the third quarter of 2020. This includes devices that cost more than $500.

Xiaomi invested in the research and development department and improved the production process

Between the last quarter of 2019 and the third quarter of 2020, Xiaomi invested more than $1,3 billion in research and development. As a result, 2143 camera tests, which lasted from 3 to 4 days, were fully automated. Now the brand is able to test its cameras in just one day. The brand has also improved its cameras and software. For example, the Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro held the top spot in the DxOMark camera ranking for 48 days. The Mi 10 Ultra was on top for almost two and a half months. The Mi 11 also performed well on the camera test website. The audio laboratory also works successfully. The Mi 10 Pro has been the best phone in DxO Audio tests for most of 2020. The brand also has more labs to develop 5G, displays and one that improves the overall stability of the phone.

Apart from the Mi phones doing quite well in the high-end segment, the Redmi branch is also making a lot of money. To date, the Redmi Note series has shipped more than 200 million units worldwide. By comparison, this figure was only 140 million last November and 100 million in October 2019. We expect these numbers to reach a new high in 2020 with the arrival of the Redmi Note 10 series. Like the Chinese Redmi Note 9 series, we expect Redmi to bring at least two 5G smartphones in the Redmi Note 10 series.

It's worth noting that Xiaomi's rise also comes in light of Huawei's demise. However, we have to give credit to the former for knowing how to make the most of the opportunity.

I have always been interested in IT technologies. And since my previous many years of professional activity (which is design and pre-press preparation) is not possible without their help, it so happened that everything that was related to computers (for example, collecting and modernizing "hardware", as well as configuring software ) I always had to do it myself.

Well, with the advent of gadgets in our lives, the scope of my interests expanded to include them as well.

I like to study and analyze the capabilities of various devices, and for many years, before buying anything new, I always study the capabilities of each potential model for a long time and carefully, spend quite a long and painstaking work, read reviews, reviews and comparisons.

The reward for my time is usually that most of the time I really do get the best of what I can get within my budget.
