Microsoft has released an unscheduled urgent update for the Windows 10 operating system. It is designed to fix the shortcomings of the last two OS updates. In particular, they caused blue screens of death when trying to use a secure WPA3 Wi-Fi connection.
Microsoft has confirmed issues for a small number of devices with updates KB4598298 and KB4601315, which were supposed to be released in January and February.
Additionally, Microsoft has confirmed that the Blue Screen of Death may appear after the PC wakes from sleep or hibernate mode.
The urgent update has the number KB5001028 and does not make any changes other than fixing the listed problems. This patch is distributed specifically for affected users.
Windows 10 version 2004 update is finally available for everyone
Microsoft gradually rolled out the biggest update to its operating system last year, the Windows 10 May Update (version 2004).
And just now, 8 months after its release, Microsoft has announced that the Windows 10 May 2020 Update is finally ready for "universal deployment."
Basically, this means that Windows 10 version 2004 does not contain serious bugs for most configurations and is ready for all PCs.
Microsoft did not initially provide the Windows 10 May 2020 Update for all PCs. This version had a long list of identified problems, and the company blocked distribution to systems with certain parameters. Despite all the restrictions, users faced blue screens of death for various reasons, refusing to work with the Google Chrome browser and other such troubles.
Work to eliminate numerous critical failures was carried out for many months, and only in January 2021 all blocking and installation bans were lifted.
The "broadcast" status also means that users can now directly install the Windows 10 May 2020 Update on an earlier version of Windows 10, even if the PC has compatibility issues.
Meanwhile, Microsoft is preparing to launch its next big update, Windows 10 21H1. We expect a release in May-June.
