It's been a few months since Google released Android 11. In fact, the search giant is about to unveil the first Android 12 developer preview. However, having the latest software running on their devices isn't a reality for those who don't own a Pixel smartphone.

Many companies are still working on providing stable Android 11 updates. Meanwhile, other brands like Motorola are still unable to bring Android 10 to some devices. Today, the wait for Moto G8 Play owners has come to an end, and after several months, it will finally receive Android 10.

The Android 10 update took 14 months to hit the Moto G8 Play.

The device was launched in 2019 with Android 9 Pie and since then users have been waiting for the Android 10 update. Today, the company is in the business of updating mid-range phones. Unfortunately, Android 10 isn't the most exciting update you can get right now. To make matters worse, it comes with an outdated one patch security from December 2020.

Moto G8 Play gets Android 10 firmware update with software version QMD30.47.19. This is a major update, so a chunk of data is required to download the OTA. So be sure to download it over Wi-Fi to avoid unwanted data consumption. It is worth noting that a couple of days ago, the Lenovo-owned company released an update for the Moto One Macro.

v

ok that update seems to be rolling out to customers in brazil. However, we know it's only a matter of time before it starts rolling out to devices in other regions. If you didn't receive the message, you can try your luck in the Settings app.

The Android 10 update brings a system-wide dark mode, detailed notification controls, a new gesture navigation system, improved security, and more.

As a reminder, the device was released in October 2019 with Android 9 Pie. It came after Google announced Android 10, but it still took almost 14 months for Motorola to bring Android 10 to it.

The device boasts a 6,2-inch LCD display with HD + resolution. Under the hood of the device is MediaTek Helio P70 combined with 2 GB of RAM and 32 GB of built-in memory. The device is equipped with a triple camera with 13 MP depth sensors, 8 MP ultra-wide and 2 MP sensors. The phone is powered by a 4000mAh battery magician.

Unfortunately, this seems to be the end of the line for the phone as we don't have high hopes for Android 11.
