The Chinese know better, and they try to hold on to theirs by looking inward. Recently, the US ban has been extended to various Chinese companies. First it was Huawei and ZTE, now it's Xiaomi. It's only a matter of time before more Chinese companies join the banned list.
To this end, Chinese companies try to avoid American technology as much as possible. Currently, more than 80 Chinese companies, including Huawei and Xiaomi, are working together to improve China's chip industry. According to recent reports, Huawei and Honor will sponsor Visionox (a Chinese display company) this year.
According to Huawei's supply chain, Visionox will receive large AMOLED orders from Huawei and Honor this year. For Huawei, it will order more than 5 million display panels. Honor n its part will allow to order more than 10 million units.
The company is quite innovative and has several primary meanings in the name. The first display with an on-screen camera on the ZTE Axon 20 is from Visionox. In addition, the display with the world's highest refresh rate (144 Hz) is also from Visionox. The company also has the industry's first hyperboloid flexible smartwatch screen. Currently in the supply chain are the likes of Xiaomi, ZTE, Huami, LG, Oppo, Motorola and others.
In addition, on January 29, Visionox (002387) answered investors' questions on a public platform, saying that the AMOLED products produced and sold by the company are widely used by first-line consumers.
Visionox still has a long way to go
Chinese OLED panel makers are trying to catch up with South Korean manufacturers such as Samsung and LG. Currently, Samsung is still years ahead of Chinese manufacturers. However, we all know what happened to the LCD panel market. The Chinese captured the market, which forced the Koreans to stop making LCD panels. Chinese OLED panel manufacturers such as BOE and Visionox have been growing steadily.
According to reports, Xiaomi's orders for Visionox in the second half of 2019 are over 1 billion yuan ($142,5 million). Also, the latest report claims that Huawei's orders will reach 2,5 billion yuan ($350 million), which is a lot. A Visionox sales representative said the company's display orders for Huawei alone will exceed 6 billion ($855 million) in 2021. Since then, Visionox has announced its first screen camera technology. ZTE is the first company to use this technology, but other leading brands will soon follow.
