In the past, Oppo has been skimpy on Android updates, offering only a few major updates to select flagships. However, this has changed in recent years as the company updates its phones in a timely manner. Shortly after the announcement of Android 11, the Chinese firm presented its ColorOS 11 skin with many improvements and new features. Today, the Android 11 beta program is rolling out to three new Oppo phones: the Oppo Reno 2F, the Reno 10x Zoom, and the Oppo F15.
Unfortunately, this only applies to the Indian variants. But we expect a wider rollout in other regions soon.
If you have any of these phones and want to apply for an upgrade, you'll need to register through the Settings app. Just open the app, select Software Update >> Settings again and then select Trial. By filling out the form, you can switch to the beta version of the software. Unfortunately, it looks like the beta testing program for the Oppo Reno 2F is closed. Apparently, Oppo already has the necessary number of beta testers to continue the development of the firmware. Please note that this firmware is intended for beta testers and may contain many bugs. We're guessing it's not ready for everyday use, so don't install it on your daily driver.
The update introduces a set of new features from Android 11 and ColorOS 11
After installing the ColorOS 11 beta update, Oppo Reno 2F, F15 and Reno 10 Zoom users can expect all the latest features of Android 11. It includes chat bubbles, more organized messages with separate conversation messages, smart device controls, one-time permissions, controls multimedia in quick settings and much more. To top it all off, ColorOS 11 also has its own set of improvements. Oppo's latest software skin brings new theme options, new wallpapers, Flex Drop, super power saving mode, ringtone maker, updated dark mode and more.
Oppo Reno 2F, Reno 10X Zoom and Oppo F15 were released with Android 9 Pie
Oppo Reno 2F was released with Android 9 Pie in October 2019. The device has received the Android 10 update and is now part of the ColorOS 11 beta program. The Oppo Reno 10X Zoom also comes with Android 9 Pie and will receive the second major Android update in the form of Android 11. The Oppo F15 is a very interesting entry in the list of Android 11 supported devices .
Like the other devices, it comes with Android 9 Pie but has a MediaTek chipset. It's rare to see devices with MediaTek chipsets receive two major Android updates. So it's really great to see this level of support from Oppo.
