realme X2 and XT have received the January 2021 security update

Realme is preparing to introduce a set of new smartphones in 2021, including the realme Race. The brand is also busy with the launch of the realme X7 series in India. However, this cannot stop them from bringing important security fixes for older smartphone models.

Today, the brand is releasing the January 2021 security update for realme X2 and realme XT. The update brings some new features and camera updates to both phones. Unfortunately, it is still based on Android 10.

realme X2 is getting update with build version RMX1992EX_11_C.16 or RMX1992AEX_11_C.16. Realme XT has serial number RMX1921EX_11_C. The update for realme X2 comes with a bunch of bug fixes that were reported after the previous update. It also improves system stability and performance. Of course, the update also adds new features, and you can check them all out in the changelog below:

realme X2 update

  • Android Security Patch Update: December 2020 / January 2021
  • Added a new icon for phone calls when Bluetooth headphones are connected.
  • Fixed potential scan failure when Bluetooth is turned on.
  • Optimized the experience when using a combination of fingerprint and face to unlock.
  • Fixed a possible issue where HDR videos would never play in photos.
  • Fixed a possible crash when entering the alarm details page.
  • Fixed a potential bug in the image of the cancel button when multiple clicks on an input field in Weather.

realme XT update

  • Android Security Patch Update: December 2020 - January 2021
  • Added a short press on the power button to turn off the flashlight when the screen is off
  • Fixed a bug that caused two cancel buttons to appear when multiple clicks on an input field in Weather.
  • Fixed a possible issue where the Bluetooth scan would not open.
  • Fixed a possible issue where Photos would not play HDR videos.
  • Fixed a potential crash issue when entering alarm information.
  • Fixed possible VOLTE registration issue.

It's worth noting that these software updates are currently only rolling out to devices in India. We expect a widespread worldwide rollout to begin in the coming days. It's great to see 2019 devices getting a major update like this. Hopefully, they will also get the realme UI 2.0 update based on Android 11 in the future.
