Last year, Tencent partnered with Black Shark to develop the Black Shark 3 line of gaming phones. However, this year the Chinese gaming giant is partnering with another gaming smartphone brand – Red Magic. The two companies announced today a strategic partnership that will see the two companies join forces to create phones optimized for great gaming. The first phone that will be the fruit of this partnership will be the special edition Red Magic 6, which should be released in the first quarter of 2021.
The Tencent-branded Red Magic 6 will be released alongside the standard variant. The phone will be powered by SolarCore, Tencent's game accelerator. Unfortunately, there are no details yet. However, it is believed to be a system that balances the phone's hardware resources, such as the chipset, RAM and network connection. This speeds up loading and maintains a constant frame rate. These days, advanced gaming is all about frame rate and resolution. The system will use the optimal settings for each game.
Unfortunately, this will only work in games that support SolarCore. This is not a concern if you are a fan of Tencent Games. The publisher has more than 800 million games worldwide. As a publisher, it is behind some of the most popular smartphones. We can list PUBG Mobile as one of the most famous names of Tencent.
The Red Magic 6 will be the first phone to come out of this partnership
Red Magic and Tencent have created many research centers for mobile games. These positions will be staffed by employees of both companies and will work on the development of new gaming technologies. This will bring success in both hardware and software. The list of compatible games that offer maximum performance for Red Magic 6 will only grow.
Interestingly, aside from Black Sharks, Asus ROG phones have also used Tencent's SolarCore in the past. At this time, it is not clear whether Tencent and Red Magic have an exclusive agreement, or whether the latter will be able to continue working with other gaming phone providers.
While other companies are starting to push their gaming phones, Red Magic is keeping a low profile. We expect that to change in the coming weeks, as the device will arrive sometime between February and March. We obviously expect the phone to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888. The leak also points to a 4500 capacity battery magician with fast charging 120 W. Now, what remains to be seen is whether the phone will come with the new revised physical fan that has been a hallmark of the Red Magic series.
