The HONOR Band 6 bracelet is the last of the original line of Huawei Watch Fit, HONOR Watch ES and HONOR Band 6. And since its appearance, many spears have already been broken (interesting, but a pun, one might think that HONOR Band 6 copies were broken). The main question, and the reason for some butthurt among the owners of older versions - how is it that a device similar in some ways to their devices can cost twice as cheap.
If Huawei Watch Fit and HONOR Watch ES are twin brothers, differing only in design and some functions, which are most likely implemented only by firmware and will, perhaps in the future, be unified, then HONOR Band 6 received a screen of more modest sizes (1.47 "with a resolution of 368 x 194 pixels against 456 x 280 pixels in the "older brothers"), which for some reason is not visible at all in promotional photos and videos.
And if the photo can be explained by the fact that it is actually just a 6D model, then how to explain that the HONOR Band XNUMX in the video has a very similar screen to the HONOR Watch ES is a mystery to me. Apparently, the marketing gods did a good job.
In fact, the proportions of the HONOR Band 6 screen are something in between advertising materials, where the ratio of width and height is very large compared to the originals, and the bracelet icon in the "Health" application, where the ratio is very small. In a nutshell, it will sound like this: in the advertisement, the bracelet was stretched in width, and in the icon - in height.
Huawei Health branded application
Since I have already touched on the "Health" application (Huawei Health), I will say a few words about it. This is a proprietary Huawei application for supporting gadgets, and, in my opinion, it is the main plus of all "hu / ho" gadgets.
Compared to some other brands, the application keeps all data on its main screen, and it is synchronized with the user's profile. In the application of a device from another manufacturer, which I was "lucky" to own for a month, all data was entered in the section of the device itself, and this section was active only when the device was connected.
Well, when I gave this device for diagnostics, and then I got my money back for it, all the data died with it, despite the fact that they should remain in the application, but in the inactive tab of this device.
Comparison of HONOR Band 5 and HONOR Band 6
Since I am also the owner of the HONOR Band 5 - the previous version of the HONOR Band fitness bracelet, it makes sense to compare these two models, because everything is clear about the Huawei Watch Fit and HONOR Watch ES: they are bigger, more expensive, have a different filling, GPS, built-in memory for listening to music in the amount of 4Gb, and also show videos with the correct execution of exercises. And they also have AoD (Always on Display), which of course can be implemented in HONOR Band 6, if the manufacturer wants it.
Many people ask about HONOR Band 5 and HONOR Band 6, and why, in fact, HONOR Band 6 is better, except for the larger screen, the functions seem to be the same. Of course, I did not open any of the bracelets and did not see their fillings, but regarding the convenience and functionality of the HONOR Band 6 compared to the HONOR Band 5, I can list the following advantages:
Magnetic charging
Magnetic charging, which is much more convenient than the cradle with latches in the HONOR Band 5. In addition, somewhere there was information that the charging in the HONOR Band 6 is also fast, and the fact that you can get a bracelet in 5 minutes of charging can last almost a whole day .
Heart rate sensor
This is the announced updated TruSeen 4.0 heart rate sensor. I don't know how important this figure is to the user, but let's assume that everything new is always at least a little better than the old one.
Stress level monitoring
The ability to constantly monitor the level of stress. Stress here, as I understood it, unlike the pulse rate, is a purely subjective concept, so at the slightest disturbance, associated with the need to reconnect the gadget (just reconnect, not reset it), let's say associated with a rollback to the previous version of the "Health" program, all information from the watch can be transferred to any version of the program and for any user, except for the stress level. The bracelet continues to regularly measure, record and display it on a special screen, but absolutely refuses to give it to the application. Only resetting the bracelet to factory settings helps.
Work with messages
In the HONOR Band 5, as in the gadgets of other brands, messages simply poured into the device, erasing the old ones bit by bit. I remember how many people wondered if the messages in the device disappear after they are read on the phone. And the manufacturer seems to have heard the suffering. Now the messages are synchronized with the contents of the phone screen, and in addition, when reading them on the bracelet, you can simply swipe them, and then they will disappear.
Interface
A completely new interface concept. Now the bracelet has, in addition to the main one, five more auxiliary screens. More precisely, there are seven of them (heart rate, stress, weather, Ali Pay, activity data, player control, sleep data), but only five of them can be selected for display. Switching is done by swiping to the right or left. The device also has a "curtain" with basic settings, which can be opened by swiping down. Swipe up to open the message.
Entering the menu is carried out using a single control body - a mechanical button on the side. Some menu items show information that is in additional screens, but more advanced.
There are also themes with widgets, only two so far. In the first, built-in, the data available for configuring the three widgets are not universal for some reason. That is, in only one widget you can select either the current value of the heart rate or the last value of the stress level, in the other two these values are not offered for selection.
And also, clicking on the widget opens a menu item with relevant data, the menu item itself, and not an additional screen, so, unlike the additional screen, it contains all the information, with statistics and explanations.
Weather
The weather dials show the current temperature and a weather icon. It was the same on the HONOR Band 5, but on the HONOR Band 6, in addition to this, there is also an additional weather screen, where, however, there is only the same icon and number, but large. But the menu, which will be available directly from the dial by tapping on the icon, if you select the dial with widgets, contains not only hourly weather information, but also a forecast for the next 6 days.
Multitasking
Of course, the question is controversial, but at least one thing can be done in the HONOR Band 6, unlike the HONOR Band 5. I really missed it and had to use a smartphone in addition to the bracelet. On the HONOR Band 6, you can start the timer by setting the required interval, then by swiping it, start the workout, after the set time, the timer will appear on top of the workout screen, from where it can be restarted again.
Heart rate monitoring in real time
This function, by the way, imperceptibly appeared in the HONOR Band 5 after another update, so that the few owners of dials with a heart rate icon (I recently made one myself, you can see it in the photo) got the option instead of the value obtained after of the last pulse measurement, see now the real value. Provided that the function of constant monitoring is activated in the settings of the bracelet itself.
By the way, despite the activation of this function and the presence of an indicator on the custom dial in HONOR Band 5, when you entered the heart rate tab, you only saw an icon and an offer to sit more comfortably and prepare for heart rate measurement. In HONOR Band 6, on the tab you get a graph of heart rate changes during the day, and in the menu item you also get statistics with explanations.
Screen settings
In addition to the ability to keep the screen on for some time, which was also available in the HONOR Band 5, there was an opportunity to choose the time the screen glows after its activation. Significant not much: 10 s, 15 s, 20 s and Auto. You can also choose the time the screen stays on. Here the range is from 5 min to 20 min in steps of 5.
Autonomy
My bracelet was discharged from 100% to 10% in 10 days with all functions enabled and do not disturb mode activated on a schedule at night. At the same time, the activated function of turning on the screen by turning the hand was also disabled.
Screen sensitivity
I noticed that the bracelet reacts to the touch in fleece gloves. For an experiment, I tried to click on the smartphone screen, but the focus failed here. Maybe it's the protective glass, or maybe not.
