The Honor smartphone will receive Qualcomm chips despite Google's sanctions

Huawei's smartphone business is on the decline. As you know, the US government has banned any cooperation between American companies and Huawei. But Huawei, like many others, adheres to the strategy of two brands. And this is a good reason to fully use your second brand. A few months ago, the Chinese tech giant sold Honor. It is now an independent brand. Does this mean that it can avoid all the obstacles that faced Huawei? Now it seems so. As for smartphones, the first Honor smartphone with a Snapdragon chip is in the works.

Today, a China Securities News reporter learned exclusively from smartphone supplier Honor that the company is now promoting the research and development of new Honor 5G smartphones using Qualcomm chips.

Last month, according to a Tencent “Deep Web” report, a source close to Qualcomm said that the progress of negotiations between Qualcomm and Honor is very optimistic. In addition, we learned that both parties are close to cooperation in the field of supply. In addition, Honor plans to release the V40 series phones in January 2021. But the Honor V40 will use previously supplied MediaTek chips. But we've also heard there will be more than one V40 model. Moreover, there should be about 4 models in the series. All of them are rumored to use SoCs from four different manufacturers (presumably Qualcomm, HiSilicon, Exynos and MediaTek).

When asked about the cooperation between Qualcomm and Honor at the Snapd4ragon Technology Summit early last month, Qualcomm said that as a new entrant to the market, Qualcomm is happy and looking forward to future cooperation with Honor.

In any case, one thing is clear - Huawei broke all relations with Honor to show the world that it has no influence on this brand. So Honor can act like other Chinese brands (like Xiaomi, OPPO, VIVO, etc.). This also means that Honor should be able to use "features" imported from the US. We mean hardware and software products. That is why there is every reason to believe that Honor smartphones may come with pre-installed Google services in the future.

By the way, Honor has set a goal of selling more than 100 million smartphones in 2021. So any scenario is possible.
